About
The Journal of Topology publishes papers of high quality and significance in topology, geometry and adjacent areas of mathematics. Interesting, important and often unexpected links connect topology and geometry with many other parts of mathematics, and the Editors welcome submissions on exciting new advances concerning such links, as well as those in the core subject areas of the journal.

Statement on pricing. The Society takes care to maintain reasonable and ethical pricing, including free or discounted online access for institutions in developing countries. Base subscription prices of individual journals are decided each year based on a balance of criteria reflecting the value to readers and authors. In order to sustain in real terms the funding of the Society’s charitable activities, in cases where other indicators are equal the LMS will normally only increase the base journal subscription prices in line with inflation. More information is available on the Society’s web page www.lms.ac.uk/statement-pricing
Open Access
NOTE FOR UK AUTHORS You may also contact the LMS Editorial Office for assistance. Due to a higher volume of articles than predicted being published via the Wiley/Jisc Open Access publishing deal, Jisc will be limiting access to the payment of APCs to authors funded by UKRI. This change will take effect from 1 July 2021 and will last until the end of 2021. Please see Open Access for Authors in the UK | Wiley Information for all authors on the availability of open access funds can be found here: Affiliation Policies and Payments | Wiley |
The Journal of Topology is a hybrid journal with standard subscription access as the default, and a paid Gold Open Access option.
Funder requirements
Your funder or institution may require you to publish gold or green open access. Wiley has an Author Compliance Tool to check the policies of your funder or institution.
Gold Open Access
The final, typeset version of the article is made immediately freely available online for all to read, download, and share.
Licence alternatives:
- CC-BY (Creative Commons Attribution License)
- CC-BY-NC (Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial License)
- CC-BY-NC-ND (Creative Commons Attribution NonCommercial No Derivative Works License)
The APC associated with this option is $3,930/£2,620/€3,280. Please note, some funders or institutions have an arrangement with Wiley to cover the fees articles rather than the author paying directly. Details of such agreements can be found on their Funder Agreements page.
Green open access/self-archiving
The author, institution or publisher places a version of the article online in a repository or website after publishing in a subscription-based journal – making it freely available to everyone.
Authors may (continue to) post electronic versions of their article up to the version initially accepted for publication‡ on the author’s personal website, in a not-for-profit subject-based preprint server or repository, or in a Scholarly Collaboration Network (SCN) that has signed up to the STM article sharing principles, or in the author’s company/ institutional repository or archive. This right extends to both intranets and the Internet. The accepted version must be accompanied by a legend as follows: “This is the accepted version of the following article: FULL CITE, which has been published in final form at [Link to final article].”
‡ These self-archiving rights do not extend to the final, published version except where the article is published with the paid Open Access option.
On Acceptance
Upon acceptance, your paper will be sent to Wiley for typesetting. You will receive a link to check your proofs via an online proofing tool. There is also an option to view these proofs as a PDF (using a button in the top right-hand corner of the tool). Production queries should be sent to jtopol@wiley.com (Wiley) or production@lms.ac.uk (LMS Editorial Office).
