Session 1: Wednesday 20 July 1:30pm - 4pm
Session 2: Wednesday 27 July 1:30pm - 4pm
The sessions will be held online, via Zoom.
Developing your communication and public engagement skills can open up new opportunities to work with different audiences. It can also improve your teaching and communication with other researchers, and give you a new perspective on your maths research.
Mathematicians and maths communicators Ben Sparks and Katie Steckles will lead these interactive maths communication training workshops, covering the skills and techniques needed to communicate maths effectively to different audiences, and how to improve on your existing skills. They will also share their expertise in delivering interactive and engaging sessions in an online format.
These sessions are open to anyone who participates in, or wants to participate in, public engagement and communication activities in maths, and are specifically aimed at those who already have experience of maths communication.
You’ll have the chance to hear and share advice, discuss the principles behind good engagement, and develop and deliver your own online demonstration, which will receive feedback from the workshop leaders and other attendees. There will be plenty of screen breaks and chances to ask questions.
Participants are expected to attend both sessions and there will be a task to complete between the sessions which will involve a commitment of two or three hours.
There are 20 places on the course. If the course is full, you will be added to a waiting list.
