The 2018 SASTRA-Ramanujan Prize will be jointly awarded to Professors Yifeng Liu (Yale University, USA) and Jack Thorne (Cambridge University, UK). The award recognises outstanding contributions by individuals, not exceeding the age of 32, in areas of mathematics broadly influenced by Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Professor Liu has been recognised for "spectacular contributions to arithmetic geometry and number theory with great originalilty."
Professor Thorne, a member of the Editorial Board for the LMS journals and an LMS Whitehead Prize winner in 2017, has been rewarded for "far reaching contributions to number theory, representation theory and algebraic geometry."
