The London Mathematical Society is delighted to announce that, thanks to the continued generosity of the Liber Stiftung (Liber Foundation), several further Emmy Noether Fellowship Grants with a value between £2,000 and £10,000 will be awarded in 2024.
The fellowships are designed to enhance the mathematical sciences research, broadly construed, of holders either re-establishing their research programme after returning from a major break associated with caring responsibilities or those requiring support to maintain their research programme while dealing with significant ongoing caring responsibilities.
Grants with a value of between £2,000 and £10,000 will be awarded, depending on applicant requirements. The scheme allows applicants the flexibility to submit a proposed spend based on their own individual case. These expenses may include contributions to extra caring costs, travel costs, research assistance or some other support, without which the applicant would have difficulty re-establishing or continuing their research.
In addition to financial support, each Emmy Noether Fellow will have access to mentoring and networking opportunities supported by the host department and the LMS.
To be eligible, applicants must have a PhD in mathematics or a closely related subject and be affiliated with a UK university in an academic capacity. This scheme is also available to mathematicians who have recently reached the UK after fleeing their home country and are continuing their studies in a UK host institution.
Applications are now open, with a deadline of Sunday 30 June 2024, 11:59pm (UK time). Completed applications must be sent to womenanddiversity@lms.ac.uk.
The application form and guidance notes can be found on the LMS website: https://www.lms.ac.uk/grants/lms-emmy-noether-fellowships
