The Louis Bachelier Prize is a biennial prize jointly awarded by the London Mathematical Society, the Natixis Foundation for Quantitative Research and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles. Nominations are now invited for the 2024 award.
Congratulations to Professor Miles Reid FRS, who has been awarded the Royal Society's Sylvester Medal. The Sylvester Medal is awarded annually for outstanding contributions in the field of mathematics.
The LMS offers Caring Supplementary Grants to enable parents and carers to attend conferences, research schools, meetings or visits by making a contribution towards caring costs. Any mathematician in the UK is eligible to apply and the maximum award is £200. This scheme is intended for applicants for whom no other provision for caring costs is available.
A-level results were released today for students across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Scottish Higher results were released on 8 August. The LMS congratulates all students and their teachers for all their hard work represented in the results today and extends its warmest wishes to the student for the next step in their journey.
The joint Panels of the IMA and the LMS are delighted to award the 2023 David Crighton Medal to Alison Etheridge FRS OBE, of the University of Oxford.

Grants of up to £15,000 are available for LMS Research Schools, one of which will be focused on Knowledge Exchange. The LMS Research Schools provide training for research students in contemporary areas of mathematics. The Knowledge Exchange Research Schools will primarily focus on Knowledge Exchange and can be in any area of mathematics.
