STEM for BRITAIN 2023

The Parliamentary & Scientific Committee’s STEM for BRITAIN 2023 took place in the Houses of Parliament on Monday 6th March, during British Science Week. Applications were invited from early-career research scientists, engineers, technologists and mathematicians for the opportunity to exhibit posters in one of five research areas. The LMS extends its congratulations to the winners in the mathematical sciences category:

The Abel Prize will be announced on March 22 at 12:00 GMT+1 at The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. The announcement can be seen as a live webcast at www.abelprize.no.

Hirst Prize and Lectureship 2023: Call for Nominations

Next Deadline: 31 January 2023

Originally launched in 2015 as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the London Mathematical Society (LMS), the Hirst Prize and Lectureship is now jointly awarded by the LMS and the British Society for the History of Mathematics (BSHM). The prize is named after Thomas Archer Hirst, who was the fifth President of the LMS (1872–1874).
